Get Moving!

A movement workshop for all

  • Sat 10 Oct (10:30 AM - 12 NOON)

  • Rawcliffe Rec, Rawcliffe Pavilion, St Mark’s Grove, York YO30 5TS

For all abilities, tailored to your level

Feel good as you move your body, build confidence and have fun alongside others.  Booking is essential as places are limited.

I use a holistic, blended approach, with scalable practices drawn from several disciplines.

  • I can show simple starter versions of each move, with a small range of motion and the option to be sitting on a chair

  • I can show more challenging progressions, with more range, more complexity and in different positions - such as standing up, kneeling down or on all fours

  • Each person can move at their comfortable, do-able level

What we will do

  • Gentle top-to-toe warm up

  • Body prep drills & mobility

  • Practise basic bodyweight moves for growing your usable strength

  • Balance games (from The Foot Collective)

  • Guided exploration of the outdoor space or playground to try out some of our moves in the outside environment

What should I wear & bring?

  • everyday clothes are fine, as long as you can move freely and feel comfortable

  • sports clothes are also fine if you prefer

  • bring a mat, blanket or big towel for you to work on & a drink if you like

York 50+ Festival

This event is open to all ages, even though it is part of York 50+ Festival organised by York Older People’s Assembly. Each year they put on a programme of events for people over 50, their friends and family. They hope to challenge stereotypes and offer low cost activities to celebrate the energy, skills and creativity of older people.
