About me - Julie Wrigley

A movement explorer, restorer & guide

I like to help people to move ‘better’ with more confidence and joy, no matter their starting point, so they can build a movement-rich life that suits them.

Special clothes, gyms and technical language are not necessarily needed. Our own bodies, together with simple household props and our outdoor environment can be enough.

This practical and accessible approach can be empowering for people who may be picking up with movement after injury, illness or a long break. And it can develop more advanced levels of strength, mobility and agility if that is what someone wants.

Not a ‘natural born’ mover

I have navigated my own challenges with pain-free movement, so understand what it is like to be a raw beginner or woefully out of practice. I was a bookish child with flat feet, painful toes and congenitally clunky hips. I felt movement and sport was not for me, so avoided them from adolescence until middle age.

Joyful learnings in later life

I have found out that meaningful change is possible. With patient progression and a playful approach to training, my pain and stiffness have dissolved. I now hike for miles without tiring, cycle around town, play energetic Taiko Japanese drumming, strength train, am dabbling with parkour and am practising for my first adult handstand!

My training

The Foot Collective

TFC are a worldwide collective led by physiotherapists and podiatrists. They are working to provide relief from pain, restore function and expand whole body movement capacity with a feet-first, ground-up approach.

I attended their TFC Guide certification in Bristol in 2025 and am working towards becoming fully certified as a TFC Guide during 2026.

Feldenkrais London

I trained for four years as a Feldenkrais Practitioner (to 2020). I have taught group classes since 2018 and bodywork 1:1s since 2020. This is a somatic (mind-body) movement method for sensory inside-out learning, body awareness and nervous system self-regulation. The proprioception it delivers can be a superpower for understanding our own bodies and learning any new physical skills or sports.

Personal self-discovery

My own explorations in strength training, mobility, natural ground-based movement & other routes to recovery from persistent pain and severe vertigo.
