We start with time on the foundation of our body, the base for all our stability and mobility - our oft ignored feet.
They are rewarding to work with as they respond quickly to a little regular attention and re-training.
Gentle warm-ups bring in energising BLOOD FLOW to the intricate network of muscles, tissues and joints in feet and ankles
Touch, pressure, massage and texture boost the SENSATIONS our feet are exposed to - rebuilding strong mind-muscle connections, vital for effective quality movement and learning new physical skills
We use fingers or tools to help with passive MOBILISATION of all 33 joints (29 bones) of each foot & ankle - in this way, we invite the foot to become comfortable with changing shapes, enabling it to manage forces better
A quick chat to look at possible LIFESTYLE tweaks you may want to include if you have pain or difficulties in your foot, ankle, knee, hip or low back
We start to include intentional active exercises, to train CO-ORDINATION initially of individual joints and muscles that may be dormant
Ready for real life & future adventures, we expand our focus to the whole body, to INTEGRATE our feet with our whole body system - balance training and games can be an excellent way to include this
You'll walk away with the key exercises and strategies to restore natural foot function - whether you're just starting out or already on the path.
More playful workshops are in the pipeline. As are classes and natural movement clubs.
I think it would be fun to teach some of these outside in fine weather and am working with suitable venues to make it happen.
