One-to-One Coaching / 60 mins

£40.00

Assess & work with foot mobility, balance & integrated whole body movement

At my 1st floor home studio in Ouse Lea, Clifton Green YO30 6SA

  • a 50-60 mins coaching session

  • with exercises, drills or flows to keep

No matter whether you are new to foot-friendly movement restoration or more experienced, I offer coaching and education at your level to help you work on:

  • freeing your feet, training your toes

  • restoring balance

  • exploring using foot-friendly footwear

  • feeling more grounded from the feet up…ankles, knees, hips, back & beyond

  • moving with more ease and confidence

All with tools and science backed techniques researched and used by holistic physiotherapists & podiatrists The Foot Collective.

During this session…

Depending on your interests, we will experience most or all of the following:

  1. Foot function mobility assessment &/or balance assessment, as appropriate

  2. Foot foundation warm up ideas - we do these together so you can learn them for later at home

  3. Foot strength & mobility training exercises - several to suit you. I demo, then we do them together

  4. Introduction to balance - practise a few balance stances

  5. Learning about keeping in the Goldilocks Zone for enjoyment and stress-free learning

  6. Playing with levels - upping the level via different types of challenge, or easing the level via smart adaptations

  7. Intro to any of:

    • exploring foot-friendly minimalist footwear, if you don’t currently use this

    • larger movements such as various squats

    • ground-based movements, such as sitting comfortably on the ground, the sit to stand to sit test

    • more advanced moves to suit

  8. Pdf copy of the exercises we did in session will be sent to you later via WhatsApp or email

Can anyone do this?

Pretty much!

  • any age, ability and experience

  • if you can stand (with or without support of a wall or chair) or even if you are restricted to sitting in a chair at the moment

I particularly enjoy working with people who lack confidence with movement or are returning to it after injury, illness or just a long break for the many reasons that life throws our way.

What should I wear?

  • everyday clothes are fine, as long as you can move freely and feel comfortable

  • sports kit is also fine if you prefer

  • please come ready to take your shoes off, as we will preferably move in bare feet at least some of the time

  • please bring your clean tootsies & any cuts or sores covered with plasters

Who is this good for

This could be for you if you want…

  • to improve movements for daily life, sports or leisure activities - with more skill and less strain

  • to prevent injury, build joint resilience and support any rehab

  • to be anti-fragile, safeguard your future independence - avoid falls, fractures & fear

  • to start a new foot-first movement practice for life

Future progression

There are plenty of directions you can take this in.

Come to a playful workshop for a more social way to practise your balance abilities and natural foot movement skills.

If you come for further coaching sessions we can build on your progress, according to your interests, choosing from:

  • More specific balance training and progressions

  • More mobility training for feet, ankles, knees, hips & everything above - ready for strength work to build on this too if you choose

  • A structured plan to prepare your feet to transition to more minimalist shoes over time

  • Work with specific movement patterns and drills to address common foot conditions, or I can refer you to clinical foot professionals

  • More emphasis on honing your body awareness - your dynamic positions in space (proprioception) & other sensations (touch, pressure). This enhances your body-to-brain connections and results in more accurate mind-muscle movement control

  • More ground-based locomotion (primal) moves & flows - crawling and more - these are brilliant for all-round mobility, range of motion and strength

  • Larger whole-body movements that are part of your natural human birth right, such as squatting, hanging, swinging, carrying, vaulting

Let’s get started - book your session!
