What is the Feldenkrais Method?
This Feldenkrais Method builds your sensitivity to yourself. You learn to feel in-the-moment what you are doing and the details of how you are doing it.
As your skills of proprioception and kinaesthesia grow, you are better able to:
access a calm, mindful state through doing any simple movements with awareness. You may know this state as the parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, restore)
at the same time, dissolve excess chronically held muscle tension which might be beyond your voluntary control, yet acting like brakes on more effective pleasing-to-you ways of moving
with guidance, start to explore a huge range of movement patterns in a more free and fluid way
enjoy and work with movement at your own level, if you have pain, injury or lack of energy - even lying down lessons can be very rewarding
get better at learning any new movement skill, so feel free to take up new hobbies in the confidence that you will learn quickly as long as you apply your awareness. This is because the Feldenkrais Method is designed to harness your inbuilt powers of neuroplasticity

As my clients interested in Feldenkrais are often working with complex physical, neurological or other medical restrictions, I have put together this 3-part package to give them the most realistic chance of sampling what the method has to offer.
1 / BEFORE THE SESSION
Initial 15-30 minute phone call, for me to understand your wishes & goals, as well as any restrictions and challenges. You can also let me know about any other movement guides you are working with, so that I can be sure to complement what you are already doing with them.
If this is for a follow-up session, we can use the phone call for you to update me with your reactions, comments and queries about our previous work. Or we can do this part by email, if easier for you.
2 / SESSION
50-minute Feldenkrais one-to-one session, including a blend of movement observation, hands-on guided movement (bodywork) and you moving independently. It is like a tactile conversation between the two of us as partners.
3 / FOR YOU TO DO AT HOME LATER
I send you an audio Awareness Through Movement guided movement lesson, lasting around 40 minutes. It will be chosen to fit you and your situation and will cover similar movement patterns to those we explored in the session. It may develop towards a different end point, or include other variations that enhance the theme of the lesson.
You lie down, close your eyes, listen to my voice and follow along. It is like a DIY mindful sensory-movement adventure.
I invite you to do it more than once as every time will feel different. After a few instances, you will be able to remember the sequences and play with short sections of the lesson from memory whenever you feel the need to check-in, tune in and spend quality time and attention with yourself.
Before we meet again (if we do) you could let me know any queries or confusions you encountered with the lesson - ready for us to work through them together if you like.

everyday clothes are fine, as long as you can move freely and feel comfortable
sports kit is also fine if you prefer
